England takes on Slovenia on 5th September in preparation for their World Cup qualifier against Croatia.
The match, strategically planned because of the similarity in Slovenia’s style to that of Croatia, should provide a sneak preview of how England will play in the World Cup qualifying game, as well as provide the last opportunity for the team to hone their skills and impress Fabio Capello before he makes his final selection.
This is no easy warm up game for England. They may be top of the group six qualifying table, but in the last six games England has played against Croatia, they have won three, drawn once and lost twice. They need to secure a convincing victory over Slovenia, who are currently lying low at second from bottom in group three, to gain the significant psychological advantage they would like going into the Croatia game.
